9 Places {Coming and Going} in Hoboken in August

August was a month of heavy rain and high temperatures, but also Hellos & Goodbyes as we welcomed several new eateries to Hoboken and bid farewell others. So let’s take a closer look at the 9 places coming and going to our Mile Square City in August.

We bid farewell to:

Hotel Victor

77 Hudson Street

hotel victor

The Miami-inspired spot just off the Hoboken PATH closed its doors on August 24th after announcing that the bar & restaurant had been sold. Previously a lively and colorful spot boasting unique small bite appetizers, killer brunch specials and craft beer buckets, we were very sad to see it go. Stay tuned to see what becomes of the space!

Jimmy Johns

96 Hudson Street

Jimmy Johns

Freaky Fast Delivery? More like Freaky Sad Closing. Hoboken said goodbye to a popular delivery spot this month as Jimmy John’s suddenly closed its doors. A note taped to the door the morning of the closing encouraged sub lovers to visit their Jersey City location at 110 First Street. Stay tuned to see what comes of the space!

New Kids on the Block:

G Millz Boken Roadhouse

61 Jackson Street

g millz

Jack’s Cabin closing last year was a hard blow to take, but this exciting bar and restaurant should help soften it. We first heard about G. Millz Boken Roadhouse’s plans to open a couple of months back and became excited by the idea of chill vibes, good drinks and fun appetizers. Click here for a sneak peek at what you can expect from the new spot when they finally open their doors! Stay tuned for more updates.

Soul Curry

618 Washington Street

Just in time for the weather to turn ugly, Soul Curry graced us with their warm and flavorful comfort cooking in their new spot on Washington. Serving up fresh made Naan bread, unique curries and inventive veggie dishes, Soul Curry prides themselves on providing traditional Indian food with a twist. The Chef and owner hand selects local ingredients and curates the menu with every taste in mind! Soul Curry takes the place of Matt & Meera, so Indian food lovers will still have a place to go!

Green Rock Tap & Grill

70 Hudson Street

Green Rock closed its doors in May to prepare for a renovation throughout summer, and they finally opened back up on Friday, August 30th! With a fresh interior and exterior, we are looking forward to the same Green Rock fun in a new atmosphere.

Loquito Tacos Pop-Up Shop @ O’Bagel

600 Washington Street

Bagels by day, tacos by night! The Loquito Tacos pop-up shop at O’Bagel returned to the Mile Square on Friday, August 30th. The spot that took Hoboken nightlife by storm last year is back to serve up fresh made tacos and sides from 5pm to Midnight on Thursday, Friday, Saturday & Sunday! We don’t know when the pop-up will pop out of the Mile Square again, so Get. There. ASAP while cheez-dillas last.

Dolce & Salato

1101 Grand Street

dolce and salado

Okay so we all know Hoboken has no shortage of incredible Italian food. But somewhere that serves homemade gelato, salads, fresh focaccia sandwiches and tons of traditional italian pastries, all in one place? Sign. Me. Up. This modernly decorated spot is perfect for your next coffee date or food Instagram shoot. So grab your smart phone or your favorite book and belly up to some Italian cafe classics.

Restore Cold Pressed Juicery

305 First Street

We already told you about a ton of healthy options in the Mile Square, but another one is joining the list. Restore Cold Pressed Juicery opened its second New Jersey location. They have all of your classic healthy cravings, like bowls, juices and toasts made exclusively from organic fruits and veggies. Originally starting in Ohio, we are so excited to welcome this midwestern spot to Hoboken!

Coming Soon:

Orale Mexican Kitchen

1426 Willow Avenue

With a popular location already thriving in Jersey City, Orale Mexican Kitchen has decided to expand into Hoboken. The Mexican spot with an extensive tequila selection, pork belly guac and almost a dozen taco varieties is set to open up in the old Porter Collins space before winter! Stay tuned for more updates.
