Get Your {Italian} On: What To Expect at {Mutzfest 2017}

“Do you like … cheese?”

“Why, yes. My favorite’s gouda mozzarella.”

Here it is, the day we’ve all been waiting for since it struck midnight on January 1st, 2017. MUTZFEST! Get your stretchy pants on, people. The 5th Annual Mutzfest takes place on Sunday, January 29th. Talk about #SundayFunday.

Honestly, I’m not sure how else I would want to spend my Sunday. What’s better than 4 hours of non-stop mutz? My Italian blood says “nothing”. The answer is, nothing.

For those who may be new to town, you may be wondering what all of the fuss is about. Let’s break it down.

What is Mutzfest?

fresh mutz

Besides the answer to all of your mozzarella dreams, it’s a celebration of Hoboken’s yummiest mutz. Each participating restaurant/deli brings their own special homemade mozzarella and selection of signature menu items. This event brings local small businesses together as well as a community of mutz-lovers! Super cheesy, but true. PUN INTENDED.

So, who’s dishing out the cheese this year?

We’ve got a great lineup this year!

M&P Biancamano: A family-owned Italian deli keeping things old school and pumping out homemade mutz every day. Loyal customers love how fresh everything is, the portion size, prices and the service.

Margherita’s Pizza & Café: A BYO pizzeria offering all things Italian. Fans rave about the atmosphere, service and food … especially the mozzarella sticks.

Rosticeria da Gigi: Established in 1956, this spot is an oldie but goodie. The restaurant opens in the morning and closes later in the night, offering “morning-to-night” Italian. The fresh mozz wins everyone over.

Tony Boloney’s, LLC: The place to get the craziest late night grub. Tony B’s makes some of the wildest, carbo-loaded meals with outlandish names, but when it comes to pushing out something simple, they know how to knead a good mutz.

Vito’s: A classic Italian deli established in 1986 and family-owned ever since. You’ll want to get in line a little earlier than usual because this place gets packed and is closed by 7pm. #WillWaitInLineForFreshMutz
