Hoboken Fall Bucket List: {13 Items to Check Off}

Though the days are getting shorter and the weather is getting cooler, the ending of Summer 2018 doesn’t have to be a sad thing. There are a lot of really fun things to look forward to in Hoboken in autumn! Outside of the usual, here are 13 reasons to enjoy the fall season.:

1. Run Outside More

Cooler temperatures mean that it’s more enjoyable to exercise outside more. There are a ton of new races you can try in Hoboken, as well as some old favorites that are sure to get the heart pumping! For example, the Hoboken City Challenge Race; the Pets & their People 5K Run/Walk and the HoBOOken 5K!

2. Explore NYC

Hoboken residents get a beautiful view of NYC every day. Why not explore the city across the river? Try Hoboken’s Counterpart NYC bars, or just take a pretty ride on the ferry to downtown Manhattan or over to our neighboring Jersey City or Weehawken.

3. Game Time

Without summer travel you now have a lot of opportunity to join a flag football team or a shuffleboard team. Join a Zogs Sports League or organize your friends to do trivia at a different bar each week.

4. Play with Pups

Fall is a great time to get outside, and why not do that with a pup? You could adopt or foster a dog. Think of all the great walks you can go on and all the fun dog parks you can visit with a friendly companion! The Liberty Humane Society is an easily accessible place to check out for adoption or fostering an animal.

5. Catch Dinner

New seasons bring new bounty upstream — so why not try what so many others have and go fishing or crabbing? (A valid NJ fishing license is required to fish the fresh waters of New Jersey.)

6. Meet New People

Whether you’re looking for a significant other, a new job, or just to make a few more friends — fall schedules are usually a lot less jam-packed than summer schedules, so it’s a lot easier to meet and make some meaningful connections in the Mile Square. Looking for places to network and meeting people? Then head to one of Hoboken Happy Hours Monthly Happy Hours!

7. Peep Some Foliage

Check out the changing foliage by taking a walk up or down the Hudson River Walkway. Or take a train out to Long Island or down along the Northeast Corridor to see the changing leaves and nature’s most magnificent color show.

8. All Pumpkin Everything

Pumpkin Pasta, pumpkin flavored beers, pumpkin picking at Pier 13…the list goes on, and on. If you’re a fan of the big orange squash, then there is a million different ways you can celebrate it in Hoboken during the fall months.

9. Hoboken Pizza Fest

Need I say more?!?!?! OK, how about the details…October 13th at 400 Willow Avenue. Tickets start at $25 a session and include a half-slice of pizza from EVERY participating vendor and lots of freebies throughout the session. You won’t want to miss out on this carbo-loaded day of goodness!
