Lettuce Steer You Away From Salad With These 6 {Healthy Meals in Hoboken}

This is not a drill. Memorial Day Weekend is less than two months away. I don’t know about you, but if I eat one more bowl of leaves for lunch, then the next dressing on my salad is going to be my own tears rather than Balsamic Vinaigrette.

Here’s a list of diet-approved meal options that will keep you satisfied from lunch all the way until you’re done with your cycling class after work…because you don’t have to be hangry to be healthy!

1. Gogi Grill

You know those weird looking clear noodles you see in Asian cuisine that kind of look like worms? Well, turns out they’re not only delicious, but they are lower in calories than your typical bowl of pasta…and gluten free! Grab a Sweet Potato Vermicelli bowl from Gogi Grill next time you get off the PATH and thank me later. Make sure to load it up with lots of healthy veggies and kimchi for even more health benefits.

 

2. Pure Pita

There’s so much more to Pure Pita than lamb gyros with tons of sauce and carbs – you just have to have some self-control while walking up to the counter to place your order. If self-control isn’t your forte, don’t worry – the brown rice and quinoa bowls make it easy to make the right decision. My personal fav is the Santa Fe Chicken Rice Bowl. The Santa Fe sauce may not be the healthiest dressing option, but at least it’s not a cheeseburger!

 

3. ReJuice A Nation

Don’t worry, I’m not going to suggest for you to replace a meal with a smoothie. A liquid diet is never an option in my book. Instead, try an Acai or Pitaya bowl with lots of fruits and granola on top for a satisfying lunch and a great Instagram post. They also offer Hale and Hearty soups if you’re looking for something that won’t give you a brain freeze.

 

4. Makai Poke Co.

Makai is the new kid on the block (Washington Street) and perfect for seafood and sushi enthusiasts. They offer fresh Poke bowls with a base of either white rice, brown rice, quinoa, or zucchini noodles. Did someone say ZOODLES?! Count me in. AND they’re recently rolling up sushi burritos for all those millennials out there looking to follow the latest food trend (me).

 

5. Shaka Bowl

This tropical cafe may have you thinking you’ve traveled so far from Washington Street that you may just be in Hawaii, but the walk is worth it (plus, you’ll burn some calories along the way). Shaka Bowl serves a variety of healthy meal options including Poke bowls, smoothies, Pitaya & Acai bowls, and more. Their oatmeals bowls are the perfect treat for when you’re looking to indulge in something sweet, but still stay on the road to that #beachbod.

 

6. Total Nutrition Kitchen

TNK is a food-prepper’s dream come true. Along with their weekly specials, this place has a variety of pre-made meals that are super filling, flavorful, and healthy…apparently that’s a thing. Believe it or not, there’s more to this menu than grilled chicken. You can even sign up for a meal plan for the week to take away the stress of coming up with healthy options on your own.
